Wardrobe Assistant

Be part of the Hippodrome Theatre’s Artistic team by supporting and working with our resident Costume Designer and our production staff.

35 hours a week with possible more hours during tech week

Ending date Dec 23, 2023

Rehearsals are afternoons and evenings.
Shows are Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri mornings; Sat afternoon; Sun evening

Essential Position Functions:

Work directly with resident designer
Assist in creating dressing lists and supporting wardrobe paperwork
Assist with and plan quick changes
Help maintain all costumes during the run of the show including laundering and minor repairs
Help maintain wigs and assist with hairdressing during the run of the show
Assist with makeup during the run of the show
Work wardrobe for all evening, morning and weekend shows
Maintain a clean and orderly work environment

Intermediate stitching skills required
Experience working on costume running crew
Experience cleaning and maintaining garments per equity rules
Experience working with hair and makeup including wig maintenance and application
Excellent verbal communication skills
Excellent organizational skills
Ability to prioritize and multi-task
Ability to problem solve and think on your feet
Knowledge of Word, Excel, and other commonly used PC programs
Flexibility, positive attitude, and a willingness to commit to long hours, hard work, and a demanding schedule
Ability to move quickly and quietly backstage, including carrying garments up and down stairs
Ability to lift 50 pounds
Ability to work in a fast paced, high energy artistic environment
Ability to work collaboratively with different personality types
