A comedy about ethnic identity and the eternal American search for “roots.” Jasiu, thirty-ish, is a Polish-American who has been taught not to value his own roots, so he decides to make his own, reinventing himself. Alternately zany and heartbreaking, by trying to get away from his background, Jasiu finds out who he really is and what it means to be a “Pole.”

What is The Hipp Unplugged?
The Hipp Unplugged is a set of staged readings. An anchor of our new Second Stage Series, The Hipp Unplugged aims to bring Gainesville great theater that is more challenging than what we would be able to display within our regular Mainstage season. With this series, we hope to give voice to underserved and underrepresented playwrights while providing our company and artistic community a place to gather and grow.
With The Hipp Unplugged, you can be among the first to experience new works from promising artists in our intimate Cinema Stage.
There will be a talkback with the cast and director after each performance.
