Hipp Unplugged

Hipp Unplugged: A Staged Reading Series returns virtually for it’s second season this fall. This series aims to bring Gainesville more great theater that is challenging, gives voice to underserved playwrights, and provides our company and artistic community a place to come together and grow.

"The Hipp Unplugged reading series is a chance for the Hippodrome to explore stories we haven’t been able to put on our Mainstage, We can take chances and explore topics that are more challenging."

Artistic Director, Stephanie Lynge
“We have wanted an artistic project where we can call upon the Gainesville theatrical community to participate as well as give our Company a space to challenge themselves as well as our audiences,” Lynge said.

Look forward to plays written by Company members Charlie Mitchell and Candace Clift, some of your favorite actors like Gregg Jones, Matt Lindsay, Malcom Getz, and many more! There will be a talkback after every performance with the director and cast to discuss the works performed.

Join us for Hipp Unplugged as we explore our world and our humanity.

Those Two Are Definitely Getting Murdered by Kaitlyn McClincy

Talkback with playwright to follow

On their way to a campy hub for a fantastic evening, their aspirations are dashed in stereotypical fashion, and they are forced to spend the night elsewhere. They are having the best time. Oh yeah, and Santa Claus is trying to murder them tonight. Those two are definitely getting murdered.

Thanksgiving Play by Larissa Fasthorse

Good intentions collide with absurd assumptions in Larissa FastHorse’s wickedly funny satire, as a troupe of terminally “woke” teaching artists scrambles to create a pageant that somehow manages to celebrate both Turkey Day and Native American Heritage Month.
