The winner of the Cannes Film Festival’s 2017 Palme D’Or!
The Stockholm Palace Gallery’s latest exhibition is about to open, and gallery curator Christian is excited to share his lofty new vision with the world. But when his mobile phone gets pickpocketed, Christian’s life is thrown into chaos, as he’s forced to reassess just how progressive he really is.
Elisabeth Moss, Dominic West, and PLANET OF THE APES / KONG: SKULL ISLAND motion capture performer Terry Notary join a talented pan-European cast to illustrate THE SQUARE’s sprawling narrative. Constantly twisting and changing, the film rarely lets up, and constantly surprises.
THE SQUARE continues director Ruben Östlund’s (FORCE MAJEURE) detailed examination of fragile masculinity and dysfunctional human interaction. Skewering modern notions of public relations, relationships, class, entitlement, and art, it’s a smart and savage indictment of the veneer of civility we call society.
