Essential Position Functions

  •  Act as master electrician for all main stage productions.
  •  Organize, schedule and assist with hang, focus and strike for all shows
  • Produce and maintain lighting paperwork for the productions in association with the lighting designer
  • Design and implement LED tape technology when needed for productions, based on designers needs.
  • Help program light board during tech as needed with designer
  • Maintain lighting rig during the run of all productions
  •  Run light board for all main stage performances & rehearsals
  • Fix any electrical maintenance issues that may occur concerning lighting rig and equipment.
  • Order lamps, gel, and other supplies as necessary
  • Attend all production meetings.
  • Design, program and manage exterior LED building lighting presentations.
  • Design, run, and maintain all summer camp shows
  • Rent, set up and strike special lighting for opening nights and special events
  • Work closely with resident sound/video manager
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by the stage manager during productions
  • Design, provide technical assistance, and/or execute lighting for rentals and special events other than
    the mainstage season
  • Assist other departments as necessary when available
  • Set up video equipment and knowledge of video equipment to help implement content from designer as
    needed for show and marketing purposes.
  • Manage lobby video monitors for marketing purposes.
  • Hours vary with the production calendar and show assignments. Work shifts include afternoon and
    evening hours, weekend hours, and overtime.

Skill Requirements

  • Programming knowledge of ETC Ion
  • Knowledge of operating, maintaining, and repairing lighting equipment
  • The ability the utilize 12ft ladders and hang lights in a 16ft grid.
  • Understanding of moving lights and special effects such as fog and haze
  • Ability to multitask
  • Leadership experience
  • General knowledge of backstage operations, safety, and conventional theatre practices
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Computer literate, with knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and the internet
  • Flexibility, positive attitude, and a willingness to commit to long hours, hard work, and a demanding
    schedule
  • Great sense of urgency and ability to think on your feet
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, high energy artistic environment
  • Ability to work collaboratively with different personality types
