Black Films Matter: Blacula

During a visit to Transylvania, an African prince (William Marshall) gets turned into a vampire by Count Dracula (Charles McCauley). Sealed in a coffin for several lifetimes, “Blacula” reawakens in 1970s Los Angeles. Leaving a trail of bloodless victims in his wake, he pursues Lina (Vonetta McGee), a woman who bears a striking resemblance to his dead wife. Meanwhile, Dr. Gordon Thomas (Thalmus Rasulala) and top cop Lt. Peters (Gordon Pinsent) are hot on the bloodsucker’s trail.

Join the Hipp for a haunted night of the screening of BLACULA, a costume contest and a costume mixer with specialty drinks like the Blood Sucker Cocktail and the Zombie Gut Punch Cocktail!

BLACULA screens for one-night-only at the Hipp Cinema at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 25 as part of October’s Black Films Matter series.

Pets on the Porch at the Hipp, plus a Pet Costume Contest!

Celebrate your pets and the spirit of Halloween on the porch of the Hippodrome Theatre on Friday, Oct. 26 at 6 p.m. The Hipp bar will be open pouring frightfully good drinks.

Dress your pets in their most ghoulish attire, and they may participate in the pet costume contest with prizes! Winners will be announced toward the end of the event. Art walk begins at 7 p.m. and Total Wine will be pouring wine in the gallery.

Come back at 8 p.m. for LET THE RIGHT ONE IN, and then head down for Scary-oke, where there will be a costume contest for humans!
