In This Corner of the World

“In This Corner of the World” tells the story of the adolescent Suzu, who in 1944 moves to the small town of Kure in Hiroshima to live with her husband’s family. Screenings begin Friday, November 16, at the Hipp Cinema.

Suzu’s life is thrown into chaos when her town is bombed during World War II. Her perseverance and courage, however, underpin this heart-warming and inspirational tale of the everyday challenges faced by the Japanese in the midst of a violent, war-torn country.

Matteo’s School of Mimicry
Nov 24 @ 10:00 am – 11:15 am

MATTEO’S SCHOOL OF MIMICRY – SATURDAY, NOV. 10 – DEC. 8, 10 A.M. – 11:15 A.M.

Starting Nov. 10, the Hippodrome presents its newest addition to the education program – Matteo’s School of Mimicry! In this class, students from ages 5 to 8 will join Matteo, a traveling bard with a big heart and a bigger smile, in exploring the stage, characters and all other fundamentals of theatre.

Joshua Evangelista, the instructor behind the Matteo character, is a student at the University of Florida and has been working with the Hippodrome for a year.

In a series of five classes, Matteo will invoke a sense of wonder in young aspiring actors as he introduces them to the world of theatre, delving into disciplines such as team building, stage movement and character development.

Matteo’s School of Mimicry will take place at the Hipp every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11:15 a.m., and the class will end on Dec. 8.
