Youth Ensemble: Session 1 – 3 @ Hippodrome Theatre
Jun 24 @ 8:45 am – 5:00 pm

This summer our Youth Ensemble will dive into the world of fairy tales and bring a few to life on stage at the Hipp. Campers will playfully explore what it takes to plan, build and perform a play.

They’ll enjoy arts and crafts while working on the behind-the-scenes elements of props, costumes, sets and lights. They’ll have fun exercising their imaginations and developing control of their bodies and voices to create characters for their play.

At the end of the week we’ll all delight in what they create and share with us on stage (and backstage) at the Hipp!

Summer Spectacular: Session 2 @ Hippodrome Theatre
Jul 8 @ 8:45 am – 5:15 pm

Summer Spectacular campers explore a variety of theatre classes, movement, art classes, as well as acting for the screen, at the Hippodrome Theatre, with the second session beginning July 8, 2019. Designed to give young people a glimpse into the performing arts classes are taught by theatre artists with years of experience in theatre education.

The camp culminates with a performance on the Hippodrome’s Mainstage where the students put all they have learned in their classes into action. This year Summer Spectacular presents “The Wizard of Oz.”

When the lights go up and Dorothy finds herself in the land of Oz—being hailed by the Munchkins for saving them from the Wicked Witch of the East—it is a pretty bewildering experience for a little girl from Kansas. But Dorothy bravely sets out to find a way back home and soon meets noble friends: the Scarecrow seeking brains, the Cowardly Lion who wants courage and the Tin Woodman who desires a heart above everything.

Session 2: July 8 – July 26
