Summer Shakes, a theatre festival presenting all-female Shakespeare productions, is on its second year as a theatre production and aims to continue on annually. The festival has set out to emphasize the importance of female acting, directing and producing in theatre through performances traditionally performed by men. Summer Shakes not only aims to feature diversity in the theater community but the arts, music and performance community as well. They strive to send a message of empowerment all who identify as female in the Gainesville community through theatre and arts.

Summer Shakes hopes to re-imagine Shakespeare through messages of empowerment and femininity in modern society while being accessible to those who wish to participate.

She Started It follows five young women over two years as they pitch VCs, build teams, bring products to market, fail and start again, SHE STARTED IT takes viewers on a global roller coaster ride from San Francisco to Mississippi, France and Vietnam. Along the way, it weaves in big-picture perspectives from women like investor Joanne Wilson; White House CTO Megan Smith; GoldieBlox CEO Debbie Sterling; and Ruchi Sanghvi, the first female engineer at Facebook.

The Pioneers of Rock ‘n Soul Show is a nonstop, no holds barred production that pays tribute to four of the essential soul and early rock trailblazers. The shows founder and star, Billy Buchanan, portrays Rock and Roll Hall of Famers Little Richard, Chuck Berry, Ray Charles, and Sam Cooke, with an unbelievable authenticity. Born and raised in Cleveland, OH, the city where DJ Alan Freed first coined the phrase “Rock and Roll”, Billy has a deep musical heritage. He has opened for or shared the stage with Tower of Power, Jersey Boys On Tour, Harry Connick Jr., Betty LaVette, The Four Tops, Morris Day and The Time, Chaka Khan, KC & The Sunshine Band, and Funky Meters, to name a few. He was nominated for a Dove Award for his role in the touring production, Hero The Rock Opera, and was nominated for two Sunny Awards at The Sunburst Celebrity Impersonator’s Convention. His latest EP, “ShagShuffleShimmyShakeSwing Vol. 1”, was released in January 2018.
