Ticket revenues account for only 50% of the actual cost of running the Hippodrome State Theatre. Without the gifts of individuals, businesses, corporations, and foundations, the Hippodrome would not be able to provide the quality of programming with which it has become synonymous. Through the generous contributions of the community it serves, the Hippodrome is able to make considerable strides towards becoming the best theatre it can possibly be. Please make your love of the arts and of the Hippodrome known by contributing your tax deductible donation today.

Invest in Florida 's #1 Rated Theatre

The Hippodrome Sate Theatre is North Central Florida's premier performing arts venue and only professional theatre within a 120-mile radius. Founded in 1973 by six motivated artists who shared the dream of offering theatre that was both artistically daring and socially relevant, the Hippodrome has grown to become the centerpiece of the Gainesville historic district and downtown area.

Located at the historic Federal Building, listed on the National Registry of Historic Places, the facilities of the Hippodrome State Theatre serve to represent many aspects of the artistic community. Offering a performances arts theatre, a cinema, a visual arts gallery, and children's workshop, the Hippodrome is one of Gainesville's most valuable assets. Aside from artistic programs available the facility serves many other useful community needs. One of the more significant uses of the building's many spaces is as a conference venue for city, county, and state government as well as local, regional, and state wide community organizations.

The Hippodrome State Theatre excels at bringing the best in contemporary and classic theatre to its stage. A professional group of directors, designers, actors, and theatre artists constantly dedicate themselves to creating some of the best theatre in the country. Their bold theatrical vision demonstrates why the Hippodrome State Theatre is the #1 rated professional theatre in Florida.

There's a New SEAT in Town

The 33rd Season afforded patrons a new opportunity to show their relentless support for the Hippodrome State Theatre. The New Seat campaign continues into the 34th Season giving patrons the means by which to show their personal dedication to this wonderful theatre. This program is also a terrific way to honor or memorialize a loved one.

Steven and Jenna Priest exemplify the thoughtful patrons that the Hippodrome is honored to entertain. Mr. Priest, CEO of The Priest Huffman Companies recently expressed the couple's dedication to the Hippodrome and his love for his wife when he donated a seat in her honor. "This is a wonderful way to honor my wife and her support of the Hippodrome!" You can visit Jenna Priest's dedicated seat in Section B, Row D, Seat 6 to see for yourself what a suitable homage this is to a woman who loves the arts.

A tax deductible donation of $500 will get you a personalized nameplate on one of our new state of the art plush seats perfect for honoring a family member, a loved one, or to celebrate your personal commitment to the arts. If you have a certain seat in the house that is close to your heart, ask and see if it is available for dedication. This nameplate will remain there for the life of the seat. The seats recently removed were over 25 years old! Call the Development Team at (352) 373-5968 and ask for Development Director Chris Sobbing.
