Government funding directly supports the Hippodrome’s dedication to creation and presentation of professional theatre productions, as well as to the development of innovative education and outreach programs. Depending on priorities of the funding organization, grants can be given for the support of general operating expenses or earmarked for a particular initiative.
We would like to recognize the generous support of our funders. The Hippodrome is funded in part by the Alachua County Board of County Commission’s Cultural and Environmental Funding Program and Tourist Development Tax; by the City of Gainesville, Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs; by the State of Florida, Department of Children and Family Services; and by the by the State of Florida, Department of State, Division of Cultural Affairs and the Florida Council on Arts and Culture.
The mission of the Division of Cultural Affairs of the City of Gainesville is to promote cultural activity in Alachua County and develop mechanisms that support and encourage community-based cultural resources. We define “cultural” to include ethnic, ecological, and historic resources, as well as the fine and popular arts.
The Florida Department of Children and Families has adopted an integrated approach to programs and services as we work to help improve the lives of individuals and families.
The Florida Division of Cultural Affairs is Florida’s state arts agency. The Division promotes arts and culture as essential to quality of life for all Floridians.
