A Royal Good Time with Prince Poppycock

Prince Poppycock, from the hit show America's Got Talent, performed for a sold-out house on the Hippodrome Mainstage, wowing the audience with his voice, humor, and extravagant costumes. Die-hard Poppycock fans had the chance to meet the man behind the wig in the Hippodrome Basement at a meet & greet event after the show. Topped off with champagne and poppyseed muffins, it was an all-around "royal good time."
New Sink Area

The Hippodrome Rentals Department is happy to announce that we now have a sink, hand washing station, and cabinet in the basement catering prep room. We hope our future renters and caterers enjoy the added convenience. Many thanks to Brian Roe and the shop crew for working so hard to improve our basement facility.
FRESH Film Screening

Florida Organic Growers held a benefit screening of the film FRESH in the Hippodrome Cinema. The film featured food activists and farmers, such as Michael Pollan and Joel Salatin. Chipotle provided burritos and chips for attendees to enjoy while watching the film.
WUFT Speakeasy Event & Film Screening

Public television station WUFT-TV showed a sneak preview of the Ken Burns documentary PROHIBITION in the Hippodrome Cinema. The screening was presented along with a "speakeasy" party in the Hippodrome Basement. Fellas and dolls at the juice joint downstairs enjoyed food from Liquid Ginger and had the chance to participate in raffles and a silent auction.
"WUFT-TV had the privilege to use the Hippodrome cinema and basement facility for a PBS documentary screening and speakeasy party. The location was the perfect choice to provide the proper ambience and mingling experience for guests to enjoy. The staff were professional and personable and catered to every request – even those at the last minute. We will readily consider this location for future events. Event planning and implementation can be difficult and tedious, but the Hippodrome staff helped to make the process easier and less stressful. Thieves Guilde Auditions

The Gainesville Thieves Guilde held this year's auditions in the Hippodrome Cinema. Attendees auditioned to be in the Thieves Guilde's battle chess production of "The True King", which will be performed at the 2012 Hoggetowne Medieval Faire.
Nefarious: Merchant of Souls Film Screening

Fight Injustice and Global Human Trafficking (FIGHT) held a screening of the documentary Nefarious: Merchant of Souls in the Hippodrome Cinema on August 20th. The film exposed truths about modern day slavery and sex trafficking. During the reception after the film, held in the bar and art galleries, organization members and attendees discussed ways to stop the exploitation of women and children around the world.
