Sunday, March 1 The Geography Of The Greek Underworld: A Classical talk with Prof. Mary Ann Eaverly of the University of Florida Classics department. Join us for a discussion of the Greek Underworld with a focus on the Orpheus and Eurydice myth. This event follows the 2:00 matinee of EURYDICE at the Hippodrome Theatre. This talk is free and open to the public.
Sunday, March 8 Talkback with the cast of EURYDICE following the 2:00 matinee of the play at the Hippodrome Theatre. This talk is free and open to the public, but is sure to be enhanced after experiencing the play.
Sunday, March 15 Making Silence Speak: Lessons from Eurydice - a featured talk with Associate Professor Victoria E. Pagan of the University of Florida Classics department. What happens when a character -a woman- who is traditionally depicted as silent, is finally given a voice, a chance to tell her story from her perspective? Is her voice still constrained? Is there such a thing as freedom of speech, or are we bound by what we can and cannot say, even about ourselves? This event follows the 2:00 matinee of EURYDICE at the Hippodrome Theatre. This talk is free and open to the public.

Tuesday, March 24 Orfeo Negro film. Join us for a screening of the 1959 Brazilian film Black Orpheus. The movie is part of the 2009 One Community, One Story events on the Orpheus & Eurydice myth. This film is in Portuguese with English subtitles, and is intended for adults. 6:30 p.m. Storyhour Room, 1st Floor of the Alachua County Library District Headquarters.
