The Hippodrome Wins the
Non Profit Business of the Year
The Hippodrome Theatre recently created a discounted subscription package for members of The Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce.
“While developing this promotion, Jessica Thompson, Director of Marketing, discovered the Business of the Year Awards, and she suggested that the Hippodrome apply,” said Malena Summers, Grants Administrator.
The Hippodrome was awarded Non-Profit of the Year because of the theatre’s high-quality productions, diverse educational programming and profound community impact, Summers said.
Under the guidance of Founder and Producing Director, Mary Hausch, the theatre has become the cultural centerpiece of downtown Gainesville and brings the best in professional theatre to North Central Florida, she said.
“We are really honored to be recognized by the Chamber of Commerce. Our partnerships with the business community have been critical in our growth into a nationally recognized professional theatre. Our Corporate Sponsorship Program is one of the best in the nation” said Mary Hausch, the Hippodrome’s Producing Director.
According to Hausch, the application process was extremely tough; however, Hausch credits the Hippodrome’s success to its unique performances and programs and its cultural significance to our community.
“Mainstage productions and education programs have touched millions of lives by awakening ideas, encouraging discussion and inspiring creativity,” Summers said. “The theatre exemplifies Gainesville’s commitment to the arts, while continually fostering partnerships, stimulating surrounding businesses, and attracting cultural tourism.”
