| Solve all of life’s little mysteries with
Caldwell’s adaptation of Kipling’s Just So Stories. Find out
how the elephant got his trunk, the camel got his hump, the kangaroo got
his hop and why the alphabet was made in this all new treatment of Kiplings’
timeless tales.
In adapting the stories, Caldwell said she
wanted to take from them Kipling's underlying theme of how we, both people
and animals, have become who we are. “There is a true mythical quality
to the Just So Stories that addresses the creation of civilization,”
Caldwell said. Caldwell promises the production will be more than
just another children’s story. “This is going to be an evening event
with something for adults and children,” Caldwell said. “I can promise
that.” Caldwell has directed over 20 shows on the Hippodrome mainstage
including last season’s A Streetcar Named Desire.
