Are you looking to fuse your love for the arts with the management and event-planning skills you’ve been developing in college? Do you have a can-do attitude and a strong desire to increase the Hipp’s public profile as an event venue? And do you like to have fun? Then the Hipp’s public programs internship might be for you!
As a public programs intern, you’ll be responsible for getting people to buy into the Hippodrome. Sure, we want people to buy tickets to our Mainstage shows and cinema screenings, and to rent out our facilities. But we also want them to buy into this place that we love so much. The Hippodrome is a true cornerstone of downtown Gainesville, and your job as a public programs intern is to make sure that the community doesn’t just know that — they feel it. We want you to get people flowing in through our doors, excited about our programming and our mission.
While working with our public programs team, you’ll have the opportunity to create original content for our website and social media pages. You’ll become one of the most in-the-know people about the downtown area. You’ll be pushed to flex your creative muscles and produce meaningful work. If you’re up for the challenge, we think you’ll really enjoy yourself.
This internship includes working at the theatre during weekday office hours as well as during evening/weekend Mainstage performances. This is a part-time internship. Reports to the Director of Public Programs.
To apply, please submit your résumé and cover letter — outlining your specific events-related experience — to firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject line “Public Programs Internship – YOUR NAME” by August 1. If you have writing, graphic design, photography or videography experience, please outline that in your cover letter and attach a small portfolio of your work or a link to your website.
NOTE: Qualified applicants may be hired prior to the application deadline, so applicants are strongly encouraged to apply quickly so as to secure an interview slot.
The Hippodrome is Gainesville's cultural centerpiece offering live theatre, films, gallery exhibits, classes, and special events over 340 days a year. The Hipp. It's close to home, but far from ordinary!
