For fifteen years, the Hippodrome’s Theatre Camps have offered young people the opportunity to learn about theatre in a professional environment. The Hippodrome’s programs builds interpersonal skills, cultivates a lifelong appreciation of theatre, and an understanding of the theatrical artistic process.
Hippodrome Summer Spectacular is fun, exciting and inclusive. All children - regardless of previous experience - are guaranteed a role. Throughout the 4 week camp session, young people ages 7-17 work on all aspects of the play’s production, from acting, (and singing and dancing, if they are cast in a musical), to props, costumes,and marketing. The final week of camp culminates in public performances of the play on the Hippodrome Mainstage. Additional workshops include acting for the camera, cinema studies, stage makeup and effects, audition techniques, and many other fun and engaging lessons in all things entertainment. The Hippodrome also offers a two-week, half-day camp for your littlest stars ages 5 & 6.
At Hippodrome Summer Spectacular camp, your child will be supported as an individual in a non-competitive, enriching environment through a spirit of inclusion, acceptance and positivity.
