PROGRAM INFORMATION

Orientation

Orientation for parents and students will be held on the first day of camp from 9:10-9:30am.

Drop Off and Pick Up

Camp will be held at the Hippodrome. Instructors will be on the Hippodrome front steps at 8:50 a.m. to meet you and supervise your children. Please pick up your child promptly by 5:10 p.m. Please refer to the late pick-up policy for further information. If your child needs to be dismissed early, or to leave at any time during the day, please let us know in writing. For safety purposes, no unsupervised children are allowed on the Hippodrome property.

Monologues

All students should have a monologue prepared for the first day of camp. The monologue simply serves as a tool for staff to determine how your child can best participate in the final production. All children, regardless of experience, receive a role in the final performance.

Lunch

Please send a bag lunch (including beverage) with your child every day. Students will not be allowed to leave the building to purchase lunch. You may also want to send snacks with your child for the morning and afternoon break. Please send no foods that require preparation; no microwave, refrigerator, or soda/snack machine will be available.

Appropriate Attire

Students will be climbing stairs throughout the day and backless shoes can be dangerous. Therefore we suggest tennis shoes or closed shoes. Workshops require physical movement, and many exercises require sitting or laying on the floor. Students should wear clothes that they can move in comfortably. For the technical theater class, please send a smock or cover up (an old oversized shirt, for example) that will protect their clothing from paint, glue, make-up, etc.

Performances

Spring Break-A-Leg - There will be no final performance for this camp. Summer Spectacular - Performances will be presented on the last three days of camp. Cast and times vary and will be posted on the web.

Hippodrome Guidelines

We welcome all young actors to our camp. The Hippodrome is a professional theater, and in order to maintain a professional atmosphere, we ask that young actors:
