April 25 - April 26
The Hippodrome Cinema is celebrating the spirit of young, talented filmmakers in Florida by hosting CINEVIE, a student-based film festival comprised of shorts. Set to take place on Friday, April 25 and in partnership with students from the University of Florida, the festival will seek to alter the way people perceive the world around them through cinema, language and art.
To celebrate the linguistically diverse world that cinema explores, this year’s theme for each of the films is language. With aims to highlight the beauty of languages that exist around the world, the festival is asking filmmakers to incorporate language into their film. Whether it serves as a large portion of their plot or simply used in a brief instance, the choice is up to the student. The festival will feature a variety of shorts put together by students from the University of Florida, Santa Fe College, Florida State University, the University of South Florida, and the University of Central Florida.

CINEVIE will take place at the Hippodrome Cinema, located at 25 SE 2nd Place, Gainesville, Florida 32601.
